Are Your Testosterone Levels Declining?
It is estimated that Low T effects 7 million men in the United States. Over the past 30 years, T-levels in men have decreased by 25%. The exact cause of this is unknown, but it is believed to be secondary to the estrogenic effects of plastics, processed foods, environmental pollutants and stress.
Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) increases testosterone levels in men with low testosterone. At our Long Island clinic, we offer TRT to alleviate symptoms like fatigue, low sex drive, and mood swings.
Low testosterone, or hypogonadism, often goes unnoticed as part of aging. It begins decreasing around age 30, dropping 1% per year. By age 45, 40% of men may experience symptoms like irritability, muscle loss, fatigue, and low libido.
TRT can restore muscle mass, energy, and mood. At Atlas Men’s Health, we specialize in managing low testosterone, monitoring your progress through routine follow-ups to optimize your health.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is a medical treatment designed to help men with low testosterone levels. It involves supplementing the body’s natural testosterone with external sources, improving symptoms of testosterone deficiency such as fatigue, low libido, and muscle mass loss.
-
Men experiencing symptoms of low testosterone, such as decreased energy, fewer spontaneous erections, or loss of muscle mass, may be candidates for testosterone therapy. A blood test is required to confirm testosterone deficiency.
-
When administered by healthcare professionals, testosterone therapy is generally safe. However, as with any medical treatment, there are risks of testosterone supplementation, including possible impacts on prostate health and an increased risk of conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia. It’s crucial to discuss these risks with our medical experts to determine if TRT is right for you and if there are any potential health risks.
-
There is no direct evidence linking testosterone replacement therapy to an increased risk of prostate cancer.
-
You might experience some initial soreness at the injection site, which is quite common. Other temporary effects like oily skin, night sweats, and mild acne can occur during the initial phase.
While long-term use may present minimal changes like blood pressure or cholesterol fluctuations, these can be monitored and controlled through regular checkups and lifestyle adjustments with your doctor’s guidance.

Testosterone treatment can improve muscle mass and strength, making it easier to maintain fitness. Many men also report improvements in sexual function, including increased libido and improved erectile function.
-
Testosterone cypionate is primarily used to treat conditions associated with low testosterone levels in men, such as hypogonadism. When administered weekly, it can increase testosterone levels and potentially lead to an increase in muscle mass, improve bone density, improve mood, and restore sexual function.
-
A normal testosterone level typically ranges between 300 to 750 ng/dL. However, symptoms of low testosterone can occur even if your levels are within the "normal range," depending on your bioavailable testosterone levels.

What happens when you have low T?
Low testosterone can manifest itself in a number of ways. Some of the most common symptoms experienced are weight gain, weakness, fatigue, loss of libido, mood disturbances, and hair loss.
Testosterone has a widespread impact on the way the body works and affects nearly every organ system. T plays a key role in metabolism, by affecting how the body uses its caloric intake and encouraging muscle protein synthesis. Excess abdominal fat can decrease the body’s levels of testosterone and boost estrogen production in males.
The most common reason for lowered T production is simply aging. Research has shown that testosterone levels in aging males fall 1-2% each year after age thirty.
Scientists have also found a link between low T and chemical imbalances in the brain, which may be why men with low T frequently report symptoms such as low libido, fatigue, and mood disturbances.
